Reading-aloud log and homework timer
For parents who sign a reading card each night. Tap start when your child begins reading aloud and stop when they finish; add what they read and a stamp. The log stays on this device and prints as a weekly card.
How to use it with your child
- Tap Start reading as your child begins, and Stop when they finish.
- Type what they read (or leave it blank), and the length of the passage if you want a reading speed.
- Choose a stamp and tap Save. The entry joins the log below.
- Print sheet prints the card with the last two weeks of entries, ready for the teacher's signature.
- Switch to Homework timer to time any homework the same way.
Which school years it suits
Nightly reading aloud (音読) is homework in Japanese primary schools from Year 1; Korean and Taiwanese classes use reading records too. Any age that reads aloud.
Words or characters a minute
If you enter the passage length (characters for Japanese, Korean and Chinese; words for English), the log shows a reading speed. It's for your own comparison week to week, not a test.

Questions parents ask
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. Titles, times and stamps stay in this browser on this device. Clear this device removes them.
Can the teacher still sign the paper card?
Yes. Print the card: it has the dates, titles, times and your stamps filled in, with room for the teacher.
